AWS Outage Disrupts Seller Central and Ad Manager

Amazon Web Services (AWS) today confirmed the Amazon down issue within the US-EAST-1 Region (North Virginia). AWS also announced that they are actively investigating this widespread operational issue as it’s affecting multiple services. The disruption began in the early morning hours, around midnight Pacific Time (3:00 AM Eastern Time) which has resulted in “increased error rates and latencies” for customers globally.   

During the recent Amazon AWS outage, AMZDUDES, a leading Amazon marketing agency, reported widespread login issues across Seller Central, affecting ad performance and real-time sales tracking for multiple client accounts.

AWS identified that the incident originated in its North Virginia data center facilities which is a critical hub for global internet infrastructure. Core services that provide foundational compute and database capacity, specifically Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) were among the services initially cited with major issues. The widespread nature of the Amazon down issue rapidly propagated across the internet and it has affected numerous third-party applications and thousands of users across the United States.

The impact has been significant and a diverse range of sectors, including financial platforms, gaming services, education, and logistics are under the list of affectees. Amazon’s own consumer operations, including the Amazon.com retail site, the mobile app (where users reported issues with the shopping cart), and smart home devices such as Amazon Alexa and Ring, are also experiencing disruptions.   

AWS teams are currently engaged in intensive mitigation efforts to fully resolve the underlying cause and restore operational health across the region. They also mentioned that, “We recognize the profound impact this disruption has on the mission-critical operations of our customers and partners, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and service degradation”.

For now, Amazon is down and the updates on service status will continue to be posted on the AWS service status page. Following the full resolution of this issue, AWS will conduct a thorough Post-Event Summary (PES) detailing the scope of the impact, contributing factors, and corrective actions taken to enhance the resilience of the US-EAST-1 Region
